Freedom, Democracy, and Authoritarianism: Current Societal Context in Hong Kong.

In these years, HongKongers have been fighting for freedom and democracy. An older example is the Umbrella Movement in 2014. Since 2019, there have been ongoing protests in Hong Kong. The immediate cause is triggered by the request to withdraw the amendment of the extradition bill, but deep down it is about freedom and democracy. In this video, the speaker has briefly discussed how some philosophical debates on freedom, democracy, and authoritarianism are related to current societal context in Hong Kong.
